Hemichromis bimaculatus common name jewel cichlid.

They can grow up to 14 cm / 5.5 inches fully grown. They are best kept in water parameters of Ph range 6.5-7.5, and temperatures of 23-27 Celsius / 74-80 ° F.

They are from the cichlid family, so can be aggressive. However they are not as bad as other cichlid. Jewel cichlids are best mixed in groups, as on there own they can be shy. Plus its very hard to tell male and female, so if you at least have a group of them you will hopefully end up with mixture of males and females for breeding. They should mix fine with other medium size and bigger size fish. Jewel cichlid fish have a lovely mixture of colours, red, orange and blues so they can stand out in a tank.

They eat most foods but colour enhancing pellets or granular foods are best to keep there colour bright. Also frozen of live food for treats.
